Welcome to the Global Home of ELSA
The Education and Livelihood Skills Alliance (ELSA) is a multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral partnership that seeks to create and expand school and community based learning and employment programs in the Philippines. Currently, as an alliance, it is focused on working together in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
ELSA is composed of highly-respected international and Philippine NGOs working together to improve access to quality education and livelihood skills among the youth. Established in 2004, the team is composed of the International Youth Foundation, Ayala Foundation, Consuelo Foundation, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Petron Foundation, and SEAMEO-INNOTECH. USAID Philippines provides funding support to the alliance through the Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS) project.

Advocacies
A 2003 study of the Philippine Business for Social Progress reveals that barely half of Mindanao’s youngest students complete elementary school, and less than 35% finish secondary school. The countrywide unemployment rate for young people ages 15- 24 is already high at 45%, according to the Philippine National Statistics Office.
Being aware of these needs, and realizing the riches and potentials of Mindanao, ELSA is committed to contributing to the development of this region and its youth through its diverse education and livelihood programs.
With one love, we heal old wounds.
With one heart, we create new hopes.
